Tartuffe

Synopsis

Tartuffe, by Moliere, was first performed in 1664.  Our production is the 2008 adaptation by Roger McGough, which keeps the action in the 17th Century but applies his distinctive poetic style to the text.  Tartuffe, a hypocrite, weasels himself into the home of the rich Organ, enjoying its comforts, food and drink and sets out to seduce his wife, Elmire.  The rest of the household see Tartuffe's true nature and conspire to expose him.
