Quartet

Synopsis

Set in a home for retired musicians, Quartet follows the story of three friends, Reginald, Cecily and Wilfred, who meet regularly on the small terrace they consider to be their own patch. They have worked together many times and their CD of Verdi’s opera Rigoletto has just been re-released to much acclaim. Their discussion about a choice for their contribution to the home’s Gala in honour of Verdi’s birthday is interrupted by the arrival of Jean Horton, an opera diva who was once married to Reggie but for a very short time. Upsetting the equilibrium of the trio, why does she refuse to join their plans to sing their famous quartet from Rigoletto until a clever plan evolves.  Is there any chance that these four will ever sing together again?   Despite their differences they do eventually don their costumes and perform.
